Hey,

my name is Christian Haider. I was born in Brunswick in the summer of 1960 and grew up in Hamburg. I have a degree in computer science and have been working professionally and privately with object-oriented programming in Smalltalk for 30 years.

I graduated from the Technical University of Berlin with a degree in computer science.

The thesis was about the creation of a self-learning Go program.

I've been fascinated by this game for a long time, so I applied for a scholarship to continue studying in Japan and to get to know the country, the people and the game better. I spent the next year and a half as a PhD student at Tokyo University, where I met my wife Libby.

Back in Germany, I worked for 6 years as a research assistant at GMD, where I worked on machine learning. Then I worked at TLC in Wiesbaden and Frankfurt, where I participated in the timetable construction system of the German railway. I later worked as a freelance programmer for banks and insurance companies.

In 2002 I founded my company Smalltalked Visuals GmbH. Since then my focus has been on the development of smallCharts, a tool for creating professional stock market graphics for print media.

When we moved to Lübeck in 2014, I joined the Pirate Party and have been interested in public household data and open data in general. This is how my website unsere-gelder.de, PDFtalk and later the CoViD-19 charts came about.
